Broken Pieces

Love Worship Backgrounds“Something beautiful, something good, all of my confusion He understood. All I had to offer Him was brokenness and strife, but He made something, beautiful out of my life.”  I remember this song being sung years ago. It is an old song, but the message still rings true for today. God can take our broken pieces and put them together into something more beautiful than we could ever imagine.

No one likes broken things. We all want to mend what is broken. Even children don’t like broken things. I remember putting my dolls on my dad’s dresser waiting for him to come home so he could mend the broken arm, or leg, or worse head! I didn’t like having to give up that doll and leave it on my dad’s dresser and wait. But, in order for it to be mended I had to leave it where he would see it. Dad always did his best to repair the broken pieces.

In life we might experience times when it seems our heart is breaking. Maybe it’s because of a broken relationship with a boyfriend or girlfriend. Maybe it is a family relationship that feels broken. Our dreams can feel broken at times as well. In those broken moments of despair and anguish and hurt and pain, we need to remember to take our broken pieces to the heart mender. “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.”(Ps. 51:17) God does not throw away our broken pieces, but instead binds them up and makes something so beautiful out of our life. Jesus said in Luke He came to mend the broken heart.

If you’re feeling like life has left you with broken pieces, bring your life to the altar and allow God to mend the pieces. It may not be quickly and you may have to wait, but be patient has he puts you back together better than you were before.
Psalm 34:18 The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
Psalm 147:3 He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
Isaiah 61:1The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound.
